FOODS TO AVOID: ALCOHOL
Alcohol is an irritant to the digestive tract that exaggerates allergy reactions.
Drinking a small amount of alcohol occasionally can do you no harm, in fact it might even do you some good, especially with wine. The flavonoids content in wine can offer protection against heart disease and probably aid digestion. No doubt, but other than that, it has no useful nutrient value and is a source of high and empty calories. Drinking a bigger amount of alcohol regularly, with an unhealthy lifestyle and unhealthy eating will quickly put a strain on your liver and lungs. Alcohol is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and gets distributed to every part of your body. It causes dehydration and is toxic so needs to be broken down and be detoxified by the liver. When the liver cannot detoxify the large amount fast enough, it causes the entire system to be toxic, thus you get a hangover. Alcohol is an irritant to the digestive tract in most people, making undigested food proteins more permeable and increasing the chances of an allergic reaction to anything. For example, if you are mildly allergic to wheat, the reactions can be exaggerated when you drink alcohol with wheat. Other health risks from drinking alcohol: -
